چکیده

Bit error rates of uplink and downlink Multicarrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) system using coherent Maximal-Ratio Combing (MRC) and Equal Gain Combining (EGC) receivers are estimated over Rayleigh fading channels. The analysis assumes that different subcarriers experience independent fading channels, but not necessary identically distributed. The analysis is based on Gaussian approximation of the multiple access interference. Generalized bit error rate (BER) expressions for both uplink and downlink with MRC and EGC receivers were derived. The analytical results are supported with computer simulation results. The effect of fading parameters, number of users, and number of subcarriers were presented. The BER performance of the EGC receiver in the uplink is highly influenced by the fading parameter compared with the MRC receiver. The EGC receiver achieves advantages compared to the MRC receiver in the downlink, the MRC receiver obtains small improvement compared to the EGC in the uplink. Key-Words: Multicarrier Code Division Multiple Access, Maximal Ratio Combining, Equal Gain Combining, Uplink MC-CDMA Receiver, Downlink MC-CDMA Receiver.

Time Division Duplex MC-CDMA for Next Generation Mobile Radio Systems

Over the past several years there has been increased interest in wireless mobile communication systems that use code division multiple access (CDMA). The systems such us IS-95 (Direct Sequence CDMA, DS-CDMA) and UMTS (Wideband CDMA, W-CDMA) already use CDMA based techniques. On the other hand, thanks to excellent multi carrier (MC) modulation properties in the frequency selective fading radio c...

Pre-Compensation of Fading Channels for Uplink Time Division Duplex MC-CDMA Systems

Time division duplex multi-carrier code-division multiple-access (TDD/MC-CDMA) exploits the strong correlation between upand downlink channel conditions of the slowly timevarying channels. The TDD mode enables pre-compensation of the channel influence on the uplink signal already at the mobile station based on the channel estimation from the downlink signal. The aim of this paper is to carry ou...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

On frequency domain equalization for MC-CDMA in Nakagami fading channels

In this letter, we evaluate the performance of multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) in terms of average bit error probability (BEP) in Nakagami fading channels. The results are applicable to MC-CDMA systems employing coherent demodulation with maximal-ratio combining (MRC) or equal gain combining (EGC) reception. The effects of fading parameters and number of users are presented...

Uplink BER Performance Comparison of Single-carrier Multi-access and Multi-carrier Multi-access

Abstract The downlink bit error rate (BER) performances of DSand MC-CDMA in a frequency-selective fading channel can be significantly improved by the use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. However, the uplink BER performance degrades due to strong multi-user interference (MUI) since different users’ signals go through different channels a...
